Festive rickshaw of life

Art from the collection of Aune Laaksonen Art Foundation
In honour of the 100th anniversary of the city of Kerava, Sinkka will host a unique exhibition compiled from the collection of the Aune Laaksonen Art Foundation, which will touch, tantalise and perhaps even surprise audiences.
Created in cooperation with Kerava residents, the collection includes both domestic and foreign art. The funds for the purchases were obtained from the proceeds of Circus Markets organised by the Kerava Art and Culture Association between 1978 and 2004.
Alongside sculptures, paintings and graphic prints, the exhibition features light artworks, icons and Gesamtkunstwerk, or total works of art, such as an oriental festive rickshaw, which all expand the field of art. According to an eco-activist who once pedalled a similar rickshaw, it is not so much art as it is an aesthetic piece of technology, but “if you understand the rickshaw, you understand the whole of life.”
